The ’90s are back! Meet Jessica Kane, the newest addition to the American Girl Doll Historical Characters line.

Jessica is a true fashionista, whose clothing line features styles inspired by dELiA’s and The Limited Too. The 18” Jessica doll also comes with a Baby-G watch in obligatory sky blue, butterfly clips that fall out no matter how much hair spray she uses, and platform sneakers that make her six inches taller than every boy in her grade.

Like her fellow Historical Characters, Jessica also stars in a book series designed to teach young girls about life in a bygone era. Her box set includes the following titles:

Is There Anyone Cooler Than Jessica? As If!

Jessica Kane is a typical 13-year-old girl coming of age in 1999. Her hobbies include reading Seventeen magazine, downloading music from Napster, and begging for oral contraception so her boobs can get as big as Rachel G’s. Jessica is also responsible; she effortlessly balances numerous extracurricular activities, keeps two Tamagotchis alive, and never neglects to rewind her Blockbuster movie rentals.

Jessica Becomes a Woman

Jessica is so excited about Rachael S.’s pool party! All week, she has been gossiping about it with friends, while passing handwritten notes scribed in milky gel pens. But when she gets her first menstrual period an hour into the party, Jessica realizes she has no idea how to insert the tampon she’s been toting around for eight months! Can the pressure of pool water really stop her flow, or will she be forced to feign an injury to account for all the blood?

Jessica and the Dial-up Shriek

As a teen growing up in the 90s, Jessica is no stranger to the woes of the internet. While she loves to chat on AIM under the screen name “LadyDiCaprio86,” her socialization is frequently disturbed by family members who need to use the computer. When Jessica attempts to stealthily log onto AOL late one night, the deafening shrill of dial-up threatens to wake up the whole house! Will Jessica get caught in the 18 and Older chat room that Rachelle R. recommended? Is it truly full of pedophiles? And without the help of the Internet, will she ever discover if her sexual attraction to Taylor Hanson makes her a lesbian?
