The inaugural Jinx took place at the Knitting Factory in Williamsburg on October 21, 2021. Designed as a space for New York’s hottest musical comedians and character actors to showcase their latest work, Jinx was established as an outlet for boundary-pushing humor. With plenty of laughs along the way, the first Jinx celebrated Halloween alongside Humor Darling’s entrance into live comedy.

The show was hosted by Humor Darling’s own Laura Ornella (left) and Baylor Knobloch.

Dylan Adler sang a variety of musical comedy pieces covering everything from being a twin to the concept that is Lin-Manuel Miranda in a performance complete with Dylan’s signature backflip.

Erica Diederich offered us a glimpse into life at sleepaway camp with one Jason from Friday the 13th on the loose.

Kimberly Dinaro sang hilarious songs about being mistaken for a “21-year-old slut,” her history with rude landlords, and raccoons.

Ian Lockwood crooned a love ballad about falling for your boyfriend’s hot dad, as well as a diddy about detours in the never-ending quest to find the nightclub.

Character actor Laura Ornella asked the important questions: What if Gwyneth Paltrow were actually a horse, and what would that twist mean for the Goop empire?

Embracing the spooky theme, Edson Montenegro performed a character excited to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters — as a Madonna-obsessed drama queen who can’t help but scare the kids away.

In a heartwarming duo performance, comedian Allison Reese brought on her brother for a musical collab about the beauty of Lunchables.
